Our Tasks for Cyclone Nargis Relief

Tube Wells development with Burma Relief Network



Recently, MGS is taking the responsibility for Tube Well Project in Bogale Township funded by Burma Relief Network. The villages around Kyun Nyo Gyi are selected and U Cho Oo, the experienced hydro geologist, lead the team to develop 200 meter deep tube wells to yield sufficient domestic water and fair quality drinking water.


Transfer of Stipends from Rotary International Club, Japan


According to the signed MOU between Rotary Club of Kawaguchi East and the MGS in September, the members of the Rotary International Clubs over Japan and Saitama University Alumni joined MGS on 18th April 2009 and transferred part of the donations collected in Japan. Present donation is for for providing stipends to geology and other professional students in or from the cyclone-affected region, with the management of the MGS.

Relief Project



The Minzoku Forum, a NPO in Japan, and MGS agreed to construct a primary school building in Nwekhwe, Mingaladon. Concerning departments approved joint construction project and hope to start the the work in end of September.



Tube Wells donation from Japan

ourtask-04Mr. Sunao Sakamoto, the president of the Cambordia Friends Association, Japan, joined opening of two tube wells in the cyclone area near Yangon. The MGS selected two villages namely Thayet-Thonbin (Magyigan Village Tract), and Gyaing Kawgyan, in Kawhmu Township for providing wells.
Transfer to the Ayeyarwaddy Division

There was a ceremony to transfer medical equipments sent from MBRO to the Division General Hospital of Pathein, the capital of the Ayeyarwaddy Division, and clothes to the cyclone affected areas especially for Ngaputaw Township, and a 33-inch TV (as teaching aid) with 500000 Kyats (educational support for students) to the geology department of the Pathein University on 3rd January 2009 in Pathein.

After a year, our aims for Cyclone Nagis affected people are: :

  • (1) Providing medicines and medical equipments

  • (2) Finding old people without having relatives and help to have secure lives, possibly in home of ages; and upgrading such places to be able to accommodate Cyclone affected peoples

  • (3) Planning for education, health and living of orphans; supporting centers for orphans for the future of cyclone affected peoples

  • (4) Establishing tanks and tube wells for domestic water in the cyclone areas
