A BRIEF PROFILE OF MYANMAR GEOSCIENCES SOCIETY
Name : Myanmar Geosciences Society (MGS)
Founded : December 21, 2003
Location : Registered in Yangon Presently (2008) at Room 302, Myanmar Engineering Society Building, Hlaing University Campus, Kamayut, Yangon, Myanmar
Objectives:
  1. To promote development of the Geoscience subjects,
  2. To promote wider application of Geosciences for humanitarian welfare
  3. To bring the Geoscientists together for exchange of ideas and experiences
Membership Eligibility:
Any Geoscience graduate or undergraduate student, who is not affiliated to any political party, can apply for membership and student membership of the MGS respectively.
Principal Tasks
  • To hold Research Paper reading sessions at least twice a year,
  • To hold the Annual General Meeting together with a Banquet around
    the end of each calendar year.
  • To hold occasionally Special Lectures on various Geoscience subjects
    by invited specialists, local or oversea.
  • To publish journals, memoirs, monographs, and special publications.
  • To conduct short term field trips to areas of geological dispute or for
    the establishment of standard units or areas for Myanmar Geoscientists

CURRENTLY we are trying hard to build up the Myanmar Geosciences Society in accordance with principles outlined in its constitution. Therefore we welcome contributions in cash or kind, or suggestions and support to this cause by Myanmar geologists at home and abroad.
