Relief Projects

Current Projects for the relief and resettlement in the Ayeyarwaddy Delta
(updated 1 September 2009)

Relief team of the MGS has been conducting 7 Projects in 4 programme area approved by Ministry of Relief, Resettlement and Social Affair of the Myanmar Government.

Supporting necessary post-disaster utilities 1. Providing
Clothes		 Pyapon, Bogale , Ngaputaw, Laputta townships in Ayeyarwaddy and Dedaye and Kawthmu and Kungyangon in Yangon Division 20,000 Households

2. Supporting   Domestic Water Kawthmu, Bogale and Mawlamyaingkyun Townships 16,000 Households
  1. complete needs assessment
  2. 1 well in Mawlamyaingkyun, 2 wells in Kawthmu and 5 wells in Bogale Townships completed
  3. Supporting Medical Equipments Division Hospitals and local hospitals in Yangon and Ayeyarwaddy Division, and mobile teams/hospitals of local NGOs  
  1. complete needs assessment
  2. distributed to mobile teams of Myanmar Medical Association and Dr. Sai Mon Thar Group
  3. transferred to Ayeyarwaddy Division Hospital
  4. distributed to aged people through Social Affair Ministry
  4. Expanding existing accommodation of home for aged Home for aged in Mawlamyaingkyun Township 50 Aged people

Basic Education Support 5. Providing meals, clothes, books and  stationeries to orphan students Pyapon Township, Ayeyarwaddy Division
Dedaye Township, Yangon Division		 100 Students in Orphanage
60 Students in villages

  2. selected implementing partners (Kani Orphanage Trustee)
  6. Repairing and
Reconstruction the primary schools		 1 in Mingaladon Township; 1 in Pyapon Township, 1 in Dedaye Township 1200 Students

Advance Education Support 7. Awarding stipends to  university/ college
students		 Maubin and Pathein Universities, Bogale Education College, Magway University of Medicine 40 Students

  2. started providence to 25 students
  3. Provided Funds for Geology Field trips of Maubin and Pathein Universities
